Congrats on the front page! I knew you'd be getting one shortly!

makallenz responds:

WHOA! I did not know and this is the first time I'm hearing of it!

This is actually a really creative way of animating fire! Her dress is a little bit too noisy, but other than that, it works pretty well. Even the included "high" resolution images don't look half bad, despite all the stretching.

makallenz responds:

I totally agree the dress is noisy and I should've lowered the detail on the amount of 'diamonds' flickering on her outfit but I never got around to that.

Also, thank you, I wanted to include the high resolution pics to show a peek behind the curtain for how it was made. It's not really meant to be seen at high resolution but for my future projects I'm going to try and make it look polished at all sizes.

Really appreciate the feedback!

I know this is supposed to be like, unsettling or something, but with the way you drew it looking angry, it ends up just being absolutely hysterical. Something about the message block's pure unprompted hatred with no other context is comedy gold.

RepriseAgain responds:

It's not meant to be unsettling I'm really just taking the piss.
Nice to know I achieved that.

The character design is pretty great! But it's a little hard to tell what's going on with the outfit behind her body, too much overlap I think.

In general there's a LOT of overlapping in this design which is making this a little hard to read. The sword over the hat, the foreground petals, lots of near-tangents.

I think the easiest improvement that could be done would be to have her holding the sword at a slight angle, instead of completely straight up. This would help move the sword away from her body and prevent overlapping, and having the sword not be perfectly vertical i think would help give it more depth.

Sorry if this mostly-critical feedback is discouraging, for the most part, this design is great! It's just easier to explain why something is broken than to explain how it works. Keep up the good work though! I know outfits like these can be tricky!

Swissrollan responds:

Ay don't worry, I get what you're sayin', thanks for your input!

Overall it's great! The only 2 things i can point out is... legs seem kind of short, and the object they're holding is really gard to make out.

At first I thought the object (presumably wine glass) was hard to make out due to the noisy background, but it's still pretty difficult to distinguish in the last attatchment with no BG. Still~ that background being noisy doesn't help.

Pipipippi responds:

Noted! Thank you so much! :DD

Admittedly, I did go overboard with the background, putting more work on it compared to the character itself. Whoopsie. I should've added more highlights to the hands to help them stand out, and, yeah, the legs are a bit short 'cause I tunnel-visioned myself and worked more on the upper torso.

Again, thanks for the help!!! :3

Too bad Finn wasn't this thoughtful in the actual show :(

Yuyu19711 responds:

This is after the events of the show. So who knows.

Some of the coolest character design I've seen! I hope to be able to design this good some day.

Thank you so much for the kind words!
I think as long as you keep an open mind and expose yourself to media from all corners, you'll be able to imagine up banger designs aswell!

Artist who can't write; writer who can't draw.
I aspire to be able to design cool characters. I also aspire to make friends over my artwork. Too bad those aren't happening
